Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

Mrs. Wingfield, Ms. Miller, Mr. Farley, Mrs. Goff, and Mrs. Schatz all agreed that Hunger Games was an excellent read. It was fast, intriguing, smart, and suspenseful. We're all waiting impatiently for the sequel, Catching Fire, which is due out Septembe 1, 2009.

Our favorite read of the year is...

All about the same time said "The Glass Castle". The runner up was Unwind. Saving Zoe was mentioned by one reader. The Glass Castle was named the favorite in the VA Readers' Choice by teenagers across Virginia. Looks like we're on the same page as teens.
Right now we're making our choices for next year's 9 books from a list of 50. I've heard it's been a hard decision. Personally I chose 20+ which I'll narrow down by Friday, May 29.
I've ordered almost all of the books from the list so anyone needing reading material over the summer stop by in late June and they should be here. Check before you leave for the summer, who knows they may have come in. I really do need help reading all of these books and I really value your opinions, insight, judgements, and tastes.

End of the Year

We've finished another year of reading young adult literature. The 9 books we read this school year, 2008-2009 were: The Glass Castle, City of Bones, Unwind, The Rules of Survival, Light Years, Saving Zoe, Sun and Moon, Ice and Snow, Tamar, and 13 Little Blue Envelopes. This evening we will meet and find out if we have a favorite. I know mine and Mrs. Key shares it with me.

We're now in that difficult process of choosing 9 books to read for next year. The list has 50!! Good Luck!!
